Sustainability Status of Small-Scale Demersal Fisheries in West Seram District

The purpose of this study was to analyze the sustainability of small-scale demersal fisheries in West Seram District. This research was conducted from March to May 2022 on the north coast of Seram Island, West Seram Regency, Maluku. This study uses the Multi Dimensional Scaling (MDS) rapfish analysis method with monte carlo simulation and laverage analysis on the ecological, economic, social, technological and institutional dimensions. The status of small-scale demersal fishery utilization in West Seram Regency is ecologically and technologically moderately sustainable (51-75) and economically on basic longline fishing gear, bottom gill nets and traps as well as socially on bottom gill net fishing gear and traps. quite sustainable. Meanwhile, institutionally, they are in a less sustainable status (26-50) and socially on handline fishing gear and basic longlines are less sustainable. While economically the most sustainable fishing gear is hand line (76-100).
